Description

This non-firing version has functional mechanisms to illustrate the workings and loading of a percussion-lock revolver.  The 6-shot revolvers were .44 caliber and have featured fight scenes engraved on the cylinders.  Also available in Brass & Black and Gunmetal finishes.

History

This Colt "Dragoon" revolver was produced, in various forms, from 1848 - 1861 and in all about 20,000 pieces were made.  This was a large powerful revolver, intended to be used from horseback, hence the name ( Dragoon - A Mounted infantryman).  The 6-shot revolvers were .44 caliber and featured fight scenes engraved on the cylinder.  This wall hanger has functional mechanisms to illustrate the workings and loading of a percussion-lock revolver.  Watch the film "True Grit" and wait for the classic line from John Wayne where this gun gets a mention.
