1874. Their job was to assist the local peace officers, as well as to protect
the frontier from Indians. Within the first 17 months there was no longer
trouble with the Indians. By early 1900 the Frontier Battalion was abolished, as
there was no longer trouble with the Indians, and the frontier by this time was
